To kick off the summer, we did some camping up in the Adirondack Park (upstate New York) on an island at Indian Lake, about four and a half hours from the city. Beautiful, but at times it was a bit chilly - they are still issuing frost warnings in that part of the country. Two days of strong winds, and then a final dead calm morning fogged in completely.
Took this while in midtown today on errands. Just playing around.
We've had thunderstorm after thunderstorm here in New York tonight, sweeping in from New Jersey. The two shots above are of strikes hitting on the NJ edge of the Hudson.
Photographing lightning can be amazingly fustrating. You're caught between issues of low light, high noise, and te need to both maximize the image but capture as wide an angle as possible (so you get it on film.) It took me forever to get a couple of strikes, I missed most, and now I have the camera set up taking photos once a minute automatically, just to see if it gets lucky.

Yesterday about 140 of us from Columbia Business School went upstate for an end-of-year golf outing at Mansion Ridge, a course designed by Jack Nicklaus. Absolutely perfect weather and a great course. The picture above is from the tee on the eighth hole, looking down towards the fairway below.
